Between July 2018 & February 2019 I was the Lead Photographer of Manchester’s Science and Industry Museum’s ambitious decant. A team of 3 Junior photographers and myself were given the task of photographing 6500 objects in the space of 6 months, before all objects were to be moved to the Science Museum Group’s National Collection Centre, and the space occupied by these objects was converted to a new special exhibitions gallery.
The job required me to shoot some of the Science and Industry Museum’s prized collection pieces as well as the most interesting to members of the Curatorial and Marketing departments. Below we have a collection of objects, ranging from models of Stephenson’s Planet - an early locomotive, built in 1830 - alongside a Bradbury Sewing Machine and Sir Joseph Whitworth’s earliest Measuring Aparatus, of which he claimed could measure within a millionth of an inch.
